RACE TRACK AND DRIVING COURSE DESIGN

Masterplanning

masterplanning

The most important part of any new project is the masterplanning phase, and we ensure that our designs are well thought out and that the right principles for the development are considered from the outset.

Maximising your site

We think about how to maximise the opportunities available to every feature of a project, and how they combine to create a whole destination across both architecture and the wider site design. Each element must complement each other in the right way, whether it be the relationship between a core visitor experience and a guest building, or how a customer arrives into a venue and moves around a site.

Customer journey

First impressions matter, and the main entrance to a site can often make or break someone’s experience of a venue. For large venues there will often be the requirement for multiple entrances, such as a private entrance for VIPs, or a back of house entrance for deliveries. We plan these customer journeys for different user groups, and this is all considered in our initial masterplanning.

Sustainability

We design our masterplans to respect the natural geological features of a site and will review any available documentation to consider wetlands, ecological zones, trees and zones that should be respected. We also design features to make projects environmentally sustainable, such as integrating renewable energy sources, using sustainable materials in architectural design, and suggesting sustainable operations.

Track design

For our race track and driving course projects, the natural topography and constraints of a site will often guide the layout, and we consider how the track intertwines with other features such as event spaces and buildings. Each site is completely unique, and an identical briefing and list of features for a project will often look very different when applied to different sites.

Case study

Rockhampton Motorsports Precinct

ROCKHAMPTON, AUSTRALIA

The masterplan Driven developed for the Rockhampton Motorsports Precinct delivers different motorsports in a relatively small area, and is designed around encouraging visitors to visit as many as possible.

The open spaces create the flexibility for each motorsport discipline to host larger events, with lots of small clubs based on site that are free to use the spaces for their events in a venue that is greater than the sum of its parts.
