Driver-in-the-Loop track design with Karun Chandhok

Since March 2020, the Driven team have been working from home as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses worldwide have been re-thinking the way they work away from the office, and at Driven we have been continually streamlining our virtual track testing process in particular.

Karun Chandhok is our Race Driver Consultant who works alongside our team on a number of projects, drawing on his unique experiences of having driven an array of cars on nearly one hundred of the world’s most famous race tracks.

Traditionally, Karun would come into the office and drive our tracks on our in-house simulator. Over the past few months however, Karun has been driving our tracks remotely from his home simulator using a driver-in-the-loop system to send real time data and telemetry back to our team, as well as connecting on video calls to discuss the finer details on how to refine each track further.
